Ley Top Book Day

Ley Top celebrated World Book Day with a strong focus on reading across the whole day. Each class focused on one key book, linked to their class name or to an author from that region. Children spent time reading the text and talking about the characters, settings and main events. All activities were linked closely to reading, including making predictions, sharing ideas and short pieces of writing based on their book. A highlight of the day was the paired reading session. For half an hour, older children read with younger children from across the school. They helped them with reading words and using expression, while younger children listened carefully and joined in. The session was calm, focused and thoroughly enjoyed by all. The day helped to build confidence and a love of reading across the school.
